Tipping on Mount Kilimanjaro

Tipping on Mount Kilimanjaro

Tipping is a customary and meaningful practice on Mount Kilimanjaro, reflecting appreciation for the dedicated crew who make your climb possible. At Discount Treks, under the experienced leadership of Nickson Matowo, we emphasize the importance of recognizing the hard work of our guides, porters, and cooks, whose efforts ensure your safety, comfort, and success on this challenging ascent. Unlike many service industries, tipping on Kilimanjaro is not mandatory but is deeply ingrained in the climbing culture, supplementing the modest wages of the crew and honoring their invaluable support. This page offers guidance on tipping etiquette, recommended amounts, and the process, helping you express gratitude in a fair and respectful manner during your journey with us.
